Four generations preparing high quality meat products.

CÁRNICAS LIFARA S.L. We are a family business based in Épila (Zaragoza) and we have been dedicated to the butcher´s sector for 4 generations. From the beginning, our main objective has been to serve prime quality fresh and cold meats. That´s why we breed our own pigs and calves, which we then commercialise. That way, we are able to control all the factors which make our meats and cold meats have organoleptic qualities (flavour, appearance, scent, etc) which have characterised us for so many years.

Our great-grandmother Cecilia Sola was the first butcher in our family. At that time (Beginning of the 20th Century) the main activity was to commercialise young veal meat (ternasco) as a complement to the main ovine stockbreeding activity. That´s how our great-grandfather Constancio Callejas became "the stockbreeder" and Cecilia "The butcher". They were followed by their son José Callejas, together with her wife Pilar Cebollada, who already managed the butcher´s at 5, Arbellones Street. They continued with both the ovine stockbreeding and the butcher´s.

Livestock farming, drying room, and opening of new butcher´s.

Our father Cecilio Callejas took over and, together with his wife Jazmina Cásedas, started the business expansion, setting in motion the pig livestock farms (in the 70s), and bovine livestock farms (in the 90s), the ham drying room and the Calatorao butcher´s (in 1998) and La Almunia de Doña Godina butcher´s (in 2004). We, their three sons and daughters (Cecilia, Juan and Miguel) have been joining the business gradually, and together with our father (who is still active) we continue maintaining our family business tradition.

The factory

With the objective of merging in one unique workroom the supply to the three butcher´s, we opened, in 2005, the cold meat factory and meat-cutting room, based in the Valdemuel Industrial Area in Épila, under the name "Cárnicas Lifara". These premises have allowed us to continue growing and for our products to be marketed outside of our region.

Cárnicas Lifara has always been a friendly business, transparent with the client, and committed with the quality of its products. We are determined to offer our meat´s and cold meat´s natural and traditional flavour. With the typical peculiarities from the Valdelajón region (Province of Zaragoza, Aragón), but also determined to experiment with different flavours to adapt to the market demand (Spicy guajillo chorizo, Frankfurt sausages…).
